The forensic science option prepares students for entry-level positions in local, state, and federal forensic science labs. Competitive internships at regional forensic labs are integrated into the curriculum along with research and independent study. Student must complete 46 hours of specified core courses with a combined average GPA in these classes of 3.0 or better before they are eligible to declare the major. The chemistry core is supplemented with courses in biology, forensic science, criminalistics, and math. For all internships with law enforcement agencies, students will be required to pass a thorough background check. It is assumed that the student will enter the program ready to take MATH 161. To finish in 4 years, a student must take an average of more than 15 credits per quarter.
