The goal of the Department of Engineering & Design is to provide students the technical background required for careers in business, industry, or education. The department offers degrees in several fields of study ranging from the creative aspects of the Visual Communication Design program to the hands-on technological applications employed in programs such as Mechanical Engineering Technology, to the conceptual elements of our new Electrical Engineering program.

Faculty in the department have significant, related industrial experience. Direct articulation with industry results in programs that address the latest industry trends. These efforts consistently offer graduates excellent job placement and employment opportunities.

A hallmark of the department, and of Eastern Washington University as a whole, is the reputation for the level of personal attention given to student needs. Faculty are committed to the belief that academic success is augmented through direct interaction with students in teaching and advising efforts.

The Engineering & Design department is located in Eastern's new Computing & Engineering Building. The new 93,242 square foot facility anchored by a multi-story atrium provides enhanced classroom and laboratory facilities for programs in Engineering & Design and Computer Science.
