Challenge Problems
Every two or three weeks a Department of Mathematics faculty member posts a challenge problem, one that typically requires mathematical creativity, but not theory beyond first quarter calculus. All EWU undergraduate students interested in Mathematics are invited to solve and submit their solution to the problem before the deadline. Problems are posted on the Undergraduate Bulletin Board on the second floor in Kingston Hall. Both group and individual solutions are encouraged. Any solution submitted should include the names of all students who contributed to that solution. Also, solutions should be presentable so that they can be posted (hand written solutions are acceptable).
All solutions will be judged on the basis of cleverness, correctness, clarity and completeness. At the end of each year a prize will ordinarily be awarded to the student(s) of with most meritorious participation.
Solutions may be submitted to Dr. Ron Gentle (Office KGS 212) or any Department of Mathematics faculty member.
