In an effort to simplify the application process for prospective physical therapist (PT) students and to facilitate the admissions process for professional PT educational programs, American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) will launch the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) on July 1, 2009 for the 2010 entering class. PTCAS will allow PT applicants to use a single Web-based application and one set of materials to apply to multiple PT programs. The CAS is a service of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and will be administered by Liaison International (LI), an education information technology company located in Watertown, Massachusetts.

Recruitment Information
We actively recruit potential students from all areas. Preference is not given for in state or Eastern Washington University students, instead we seek the best students possible. Applications are made available each August and can be found on the web site, or a hard copy can be mailed out to you. We ask our applicants to wait and send their applications to us after they have completed their fall term and include those grades in the application.
ALL COMMUNICATION WITH APPLICANTS IS DONE THROUGH E-MAIL EXCEPT FOR THE FINAL DISPOSITION WHICH IS SENT VIA US MAIL. PLEASE CHECK YOUR E-MAIL FREQUENTLY DURING THIS TIME
During the processing phase of our recruitment; applications are evaluated and rated on the following criteria:
- Overall GPA
- prerequisite GPA
- number of varied career experiences
- GRE scores and
- letters of recommendation
After applicants are rank ordered according to the above criteria, the most promising applicants are invited to an open house/interview day. This will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010. This is a group interview where candidates meet current students, tour our facilities and speak with professors in a group setting. The purpose of this day is to give applicants the opportunity to show other aspects of themselves that may not be evident in the written application.
Faculty meet following the interview day to give their impressions of the candidates they met with. This additional information is combined with the criteria previously recorded and final selections for top candidates are made. Invitations are sent out to the top 38 applicants to join our incoming fall class usually within ten days of our interview/open house day.

A list of alternates is kept which we draw on until the class of 38 is filled. This list is maintained throughout the summer until the first day of class. Occasionally we have students who commit to the program who later change their mind about attending.
If an applicant was not invited to attend our program, they have an opportunity to request advice from the Director of Admissions on improving their application for future years.
