NEW INFORMATION  PTACS began accepting applications for students entering in the Fall of 2010 on July 15th.   Our interview for well qualified students is scheduled for Saturday, February 9, 2010

Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS)

EWU supplemental application link The supplemental application will instruct you to send transcripts to Graduate Studies. Please don't send your transcripts until you are admitted to the program.

Welcome to the Department of Physical Therapy at Eastern Washington University. We at Eastern Washington University now offer a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (D.P.T.)  The program is  fully accredited through the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education, and the graduates of the D.P.T. will be eligible to sit for state licensure examinations. The Master of Physical Therapy degree program (M.P.T.) has been phased out.

There were no changes in prerequisites for admission. The changes occurred within the professional curriculum as the student moves through the professional education process.
Noticeable will be;

  • An increased depth and breadth of the foundational courses (pathology, pharmacology radiology)
  • The establishment of differential diagnosis as the key to the patient management process
  • A focus throughout the curriculum on the advocacy role of the practitioner in patient education, in administration, in ethics, and in the community
  • An increase in time in the clinical setting
  • A consistent use of the case study as a vehicle through which the student assumes a clinical scientist perspective beginning with the differential diagnosis and continuing through the patient care process.

Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS)

In an effort to simplify the application process for prospective physical therapist (PT) students and to facilitate the admissions process for professional PT educational programs, American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) will launch the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) on August 1, 2009 for the 2010 entering class. PTCAS will allow PT applicants to use a single Web-based application and one set of materials to apply to multiple PT programs. The CAS is a service of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and will be administered by Liaison International (LI), an education information technology company located in Watertown, Massachusetts.
